Despite recent peace deals and government reform Uganda continues to deal with the fallout of decades of violence. Enormous internal displacement has torn families apart and created an economic and social disaster.

Thousands of children were abducted by militia and used as soldiers. Those that have returned are denied access to education, healthcare and opportunity.

Our own research in northern Uganda has revealed the shocking risks and challenges facing the children there. Hundreds are raising and supporting families with little or no support, others survive by stealing or begging.

Our new project aims to reconnect these children with their communities by offering them support and training that will help them access education, healthcare and fair employment.
