The Guardian Winter Appeal

We are proud to have been chosen as a charity partner for the Guardian and Observer's winter appeal, which will help us to bring our life-changing work to more children caught up in conflict.

War Child UK are delighted to have been chosen as a charity partner for the Guardian and Observer's 2024 winter appeal, alongside Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and Parallel Histories.

The money raised will help us to bring our life-changing work to more children caught up in conflict in some of the world’s most dangerous and hardest-to-reach places.

This year’s campaign focuses on the theme 'War Changes Everything' and conveys how war turns lives upside down, shining a spotlight on the devastating impact of war and violence.

As part of the partnership, we are working closely with The Guardian to tell the stories of children affected by conflict and the vital work its teams are delivering globally.  We’ll also be profiling some of the most inspiring people working with and for War Child today.

The appeal runs from 6 December to 13 January and, as part of the campaign, Guardian and Observer journalists will be taking part in a telethon on Saturday 14 December between 10am–6pm to raise money for the selected charities.

Helen Pattinson, CEO of War Child UK, said: “War Child was founded 30 years ago in response to the conflict in Bosnia. Since then, the number of children affected by conflict has more than doubled. More than 468 million children globally now live in the midst of violence, displacement, and disruption. The funds raised from this appeal will support children caught in conflict, allowing our teams on the ground to deliver specialist mental health support, education, emergency support, and more. We’re incredibly grateful to the Guardian, and we hope the stories shared will inspire both the Guardian readers and the general public to support our work.”
