Core Challenge Event Charity Place Terms & Conditions

Our Terms and Conditions are in place to allow us to support our fundraisers, while also upholding our commitment to helping children in conflict zones. 

By registering for this Event, you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions outlined below:


1.      Definitions
1.1   “Event” refers to the challenge events Ford RideLondon-Essex 100 and Royal Parks Half Marathon, organised by London Marathon Events.
1.2   “Contract” refers to the agreement between the participant and the charity for participation in the Event.
1.3   “I/me/my/myself” refers to the individual registering for the Event.
1.4   “Charity/we/us/our” refers to War Child, registered at Part Fourth Floor East, Dunn’s Hat Factory, 106-110 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 9PX. Registered charity number 1071659.
1.5   “Website” refers to War Child’s online web form through which participants initially register for the Event.
1.6   “Event Organiser” refers to London Marathon Events.
1.7   “Official fundraising platform partner” refers to the preferred fundraising platform of the Event Organiser. 
1.8   “Registration Fee” refers to the entry fee to the Event, set by and payable to War Child.

2.     Registration and Participation
2.1   I understand that my participation in the event is subject to availability and acceptance of these terms and conditions, and the Event Organiser’s terms and conditions.
2.2   I will provide accurate personal information during registration, including my full name, email address, and any other details requested by War Child.
2.3   I understand that War Child will communicate with me regarding the Event using the contact information provided during registration until 8 weeks post-Event.  Marketing communications will only be sent with my consent. 
2.4   I understand that War Child may need to share my name and email address with the Event Organiser and where necessary, with other third parties involved in the administration of the Event. 
2.5   When the Event Organiser contacts me, I will complete their registration process because I understand this is required to confirm my entry. I understand that if I fail to do this before the specified time, the Event Organiser won’t allow me to take part in the event and my place will be cancelled.
2.6   I understand that my entry to the Event is subject to the payment of the notified Registration Fee (and any applicable VAT) payable to War Child prior to my participation in the Event.
2.7   I understand that the minimum age for this event is 18. I confirm I will be at least the minimum age on the day of the Event.
2.8   I understand that War Child reserves the right to terminate my participation in the event at any time.

2.10  I understand that I should refer to the Event Organiser or required third party’s privacy policies to know how my shared data will be used: https://www.tcslondonmarathon.com/more/privacy-policy.

3.    Fundraising and Donations 
3.1    I agree to follow the Code of Fundraising Practice at all times: (https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk/code). 
3.2   I commit to raising a minimum specified target of £495.
3.3   I agree to pay this to War Child within 30 days after the event date.
3.4   I understand that all donations must be paid directly to War Child, or through the Event Organiser’s Official fundraising platform partner, or through other online fundraising partners.
3.5   I understand that all donations are non-refundable.
3.6   I understand that any previous donations made to War Child cannot be included towards my fundraising total.
3.7   I agree that if I have not paid the minimum sponsorship amount to War Child in the time period outlined, I may be asked to make up the difference myself.
3.8   It can take 8-10 weeks for a Gift Aid claim to be processed and for War Child to receive the money from HMRC. For this reason, I understand that Gift Aid will not count towards my fundraising target. 
3.9   I understand that if I do not reach the fundraising target, War Child reserves the right to refuse my involvement in future events.
3.10  I agree to use the ‘in support of’ War Child Logo when advertising my fundraising, and not any other version of War Child's logo.

4.     Personal Data
4.1   I understand that my personal data will be processed securely in line with UK data protection regulations, and that I can see information about how it is stored and used in War Child's Privacy Policy https://www.warchild.org.uk/privacy-policy

5.    Withdrawal and Refunds
5.1   If I wish to withdraw from the event, I understand I must notify War Child via [email protected].
5.2   I understand that my entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances and will not be counted towards my fundraising target.
5.3   I agree that if, for any reason, I can no longer participate in the Event, I am responsible for contacting my sponsors and informing them what will happen with their money.
5.4   I understand that if I do not complete the Event Organiser’s registration process before the deadline, my place will be cancelled and my entry fees won’t be refunded.

6.    Health & Fitness
6.1   I understand that I will take part in the Event at my own risk.
6.2  I agree that I am sufficiently fit and physically able to compete in the Event and, if necessary, I have sought and relied upon any medical advice before the date of the Event.  It is my own responsibility to assess my fitness and to ensure that I participate only if sufficiently fit. Should any medical or physical condition arise prior to the Event which is likely to affect my ability to compete in the Event, I should withdraw from the Event by notifying War Child via [email protected].  
6.3   I acknowledge that War Child is unable to provide insurance for my fundraising activity and the Event, and that I am responsible for securing appropriate insurance cover if required for my fundraising activity.

7.     Event Terms and Conditions
7.1   I understand I must read and accept the Event Organiser’s terms and conditions and meet and qualifying criteria set by the Event Organiser.
7.2   I understand I must follow the Event Organiser’s guidelines and instructions for participation.

8.     Jurisdiction and Applicable Law
8.1   These terms and conditions of supply shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and shall be subject to the exclusive authority of the courts of England and Wales.
