Building and rubble in Gaza

For the 1.1 million traumatised children caught up in this catastrophic conflict in Gaza, stopping the violence is a crucial first step, but a temporary ceasefire does not guarantee that bombs won’t start killing and maiming children again if a permanent end to this war is not found.

This ceasefire also does not mean that children will immediately have food, medical care, psychological support, homes or other infrastructure vital to their lives and futures over the next few weeks, months and years.

A precarious temporary ceasefire is not enough. There must be no return to the death and destruction that has already broken so many young lives.

War Child are asking the Prime Minister to use his power and influence during this critical window to put children in Gaza first.

Why War Child are launching this new petition and why now?

An incredible 58,191 War Child supporters signed our first War Child petition calling on the UK Government to make a ceasefire happen in Gaza. The Government listened and made securing a ceasefire a top priority.

However, the current ceasefire agreement is only temporary and the deadliest war for children this Century could restart at any time. Children in Gaza desperately need to rebuild their broken lives, and all the remaining hostages must be allowed to return home. This new petition calls on the UK Government to do all it can to secure this lasting peace.

Don’t look away

Negotiations to secure a permanent ceasefire will start today, but children in Gaza who have already suffered enough won’t have a seat at the table.
