Home can be a place of refuge, a feeling, or a state of mind.
Sometimes, we can find home in a single person.
Other times, it’s in a whole community. Often, it’s a simple gesture of care and welcome.
Home can be more than one place, and finding it can be a journey - as it is for so many people who have to leave their countries and rebuild their lives.
By the end of 2023, 117.3 million people were displaced, of which 68.3 million are internally displaced and 37.6 million are refugees. An estimated 47 million (40%) are children below 18 years of age.
